Greensboro, NC – After delaying the final game of the series due to inclement weather, the Greensboro College Baseball team, once again, hosted Southern Virginia University at Ted Leonard Park.  After winning the first two games on Friday, the Pride were looking to earn the sweep to move up in the USA South standings.  It would be a game of rallies, but in the end Greensboro broke the tie to win the game by a final score of 8-7.

The Knights struck first on a wild pitch that allowed them to take the early lead in the first inning, 1-0.  However, Junior Adam Weber (Mebane, NC) tied the game when he stole home in the bottom of the first inning.  The Pride would take the lead in the second inning, when Freshman Evan Sykes (Graham, NC) was hit by a pitch with the bases load to get an RBI, for the one run advantage.  Southern Virginia would go out in front again, but Weber, Sykes, Junior Drake Carrick (Lexington, NC) and Freshman Brody Gardner (Asheboro, NC) all drove in runs to regain the lead 7-3.  In the top of the eighth inning, the Knights rallied to tie the game, but Sykes came to the plate and hit a homerun over the left field fence to secure the win for Greensboro, 8-7.
Gardner and Sophomore Myles Vacharasin (Land O' Lakes, FL) each finished the game 2-3, while Weber was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs.  The Pride pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts, while Junior Dylan Ward (Thomasville, NC) picked up the win and Junior Noah Caldwell (Lake Norman, NC) earned the save.

Greensboro will return to action on Wednesday, April 26^th when they travel to Virginia for an out of conference game with the University of Lynchburg.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30pm.
