Greensboro, NC – After calling Truist Point Stadium home for the past few months, the Greensboro College Baseball team returned to Ted Leonard Park to host fellow USA South foe Pfeiffer University. As the season's end is around the corner, both teams were looking for a win to stay in the race for the conference tournament. The Pride would get strong pitching and their bats would come alive, as they ended the game in seven innings with a win over the Falcons, 14-2.
Pfeiffer took an early one run lead, but in the bottom of the first inning, Senior
Connor Morehouse (Kansas City, MO) hit a two RBI double to score Freshman
Evan Sykes (Graham, NC) and Junior
Adam Weber (Mebane, NC) to go out in front 2-1. Freshman
Louis Berini (Bahama, NC) would drive Morehouse home and then Junior
Cameron Edmonds (Whitsett, NC) came home on a fielder's choice to give Greensboro the lead 4-1. The Pride continued to stay hot offensively in the second inning as Edmonds and Freshman
Brody Gardner (Asheboro, NC) combined for four RBI's to increase the advantage to 8-1. Pfeiffer was able to get one back in the top of the fourth inning, but in the bottom of the fourth inning, Edmonds came to the plate and smacked a two-run homerun to left field, keeping the momentum going. Errors and wild pitches would help Greensboro score four more runs, as they secured the win over the Falcons, 14-2.
Edmonds led the Pride finishing 3-3 with a homerun, four RBI's and four runs, while Weber was 2-3 with three runs. On the mound, Sophomore
Nicholas Stegura (Land O' Lakes, FL) and Freshman
Stephen Dunlow (Oxford, NC) combined for six strikeouts, while only giving up five hits.
Greensboro will return to action on Friday, April 21
st as they host Southern Virginia University for a weekend series at Ted Leonard Park. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm.
