Greensboro drops two in High Point to William Peace

]High Point, NC - After taking game one to open the USA South weekend series with William Peace University, the Greensboro College Baseball team came into Saturday looking to win the series and  continue to move up in the conference standings.  Both teams would have their offenses on display, but the Pride were unable to grab a win in either game as they fell by scores of 9-1 and 15-9.

Game One

The Pacers got on the board first, scoring runs in the first and second innings, but in the bottom of the fourth inning, Sophomore Moses Lopez (Fort Lauderdale, FL) grounded out to shortstop, allowing Freshman Evan Sykes (Graham, NC) to come home, trimming the lead to 2-1.  Unfortunately, Greensboro would be prevented from getting anymore runs and fell 9-1.

The Pride were led by Freshman Brody Gardner (Asheboro, NC) and Sophomore Samuel Hayen (Fort Lauderdale,, FL) who each finished 2-4, while Senior Sam Peddycord (Kernersville, NC) pitched 7.2 innings, striking out nine batters.

Game Two

Just like they did in the first game, William Peace took the early lead, this time 4-0, but Gardner was able to get one back when he came home on a throwing error.  The Pacers were able to eventually increase their advantage to five runs until the Greensboro bats came alive, as they would score eight straight runs thanks to a wild pitch and RBI's from Senior Connor Morehouse (Kansas City, MO), Sykes, Sophomore Cam Watts (Kernersville, NC) and Cameron Edmonds (Whitsett, NC).  However, their lead would not stand as William Peace came back to defeat the Pride, 15-9.

Greensboro was led by Junior Drake Carrick (Lexington, NC), who finished 3-5 with a run, while Sykes was 2-4, with a double and a run.

The Pride will return to action on Friday, April 7, as they host Pfeiffer University at Truist Point Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm.
