Myrtle Beach, SC – Most schools are on spring break this week and students have flocked to the warm beaches for some fun in the sun. The Greensboro College Softball team had the same idea as they headed southeast to Myrtle Beach, but their reason was a little different from other students'. On Wednesday they opened up a two day, four game round robin in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, against Penn State-Harrisburg and Bridgewater State. After all was said and done, Greensboro would come away with two big wins beating the Nittany Lions 6-4 and shutting out the Bears 11-0.
On the day, Junior
Alexis Sox (Burlington, NC) finished 3-5 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's and a homerun, while Sophomore
M'Kenzie Davis (Greensboro, NC) went 3-5 with 1 run, 2RBI's and a double. In addition, pitchers Junior
Lauren Engel (Huntersville, NC) and Senior
Kassie Simmons (Gibsonville, NC) each went the entire way on the mound, combining for 14 strikeouts to pick up the two wins.
The Pride will be back in action tomorrow, March 9
th as they complete their trip with two more games. They will face Cedar Crest College at 11:00am and Penn College at 3:00pn.
