Greensboro finishes 4-0 in Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, SC -  The Greensboro College Softball team continued their dominance in South Carolina today coming away with two more wins to finish the two day round robin with a record of 4-0.  In the opening game, the Pride bats came alive in the last inning to take control, defeating Cedar Crest College, 16-6, while in the second game they were able to hold off Penn College by a final score of 7-6.

Game 1

Greensboro fell behind early, after the Falcons scored four runs in the first inning, but in the second inning, the Pride stormed back after Freshman Raven Taylor (Laurel Hill, NC) reached base on a fielding error, allowing Senior Hannah French (Reidsville, NC) to score.  That was followed by a Senior Kailey Walker (Eden, NC) bases loaded walk for the second score of the game and then Senior Kassie Simmons (Gibsonville, NC) drove in two runs on an error by the shortstop, while Sophomore Kelsey Craven (Ramseur, NC) hit an RBI single to left field, giving Greensboro their first lead of the game, 5-4.  Eventually the advantage would increase to 8-6 and that is when the Pride bats came alive.  In the top of the seventh inning, Taylor, Walker and Simmons drove in four runs and that was followed by a Junior Olivia Hudson (Sanford, NC) bases loaded inside the park homerun to seal the win for Greensboro, 16-6.

The Pride were led by Senior Olivia Davidson (Crofton, MD) who finished 3-3 with a run, French who went 3-4  with 2 runs, Simmons who finished 2-5 with 1 run and 3 RBI's and Craven who went 3-5 with 1 run and 2 RBI's.

Game 2

At the time of this recap we are still awaiting the official stats from Greensboro's win over Penn College, 7-6.

The Pride will be back in action on Wednesday, March 15th for their home opener against cross-town rival Guilford College.  The two teams will play a doubleheader and first pitch is scheduled for 2:00pm.
