Greensboro completes the sweep against Randolph College

Lynchburg, VA – The Greensboro College Softball team was back on the road this week in Virginia as they traveled north for a doubleheader with ODAC member Randolph College.

Game 1
After getting base runners on, Junior Alexis Sox (Burlington, NC) came to the plate and drove in two runs to take the early lead in the top of the third inning, 2-0.  In the top of the fourth inning, Greensboro loaded the bases and Sophomore Madison Dillner (Leicester, NC) would walk home and then Sox came to the plate again, to smack a single into centerfield, driving home the Pride's fourth run of the game.  Greensboro scored their fifth run in the fifth inning when Dilliner singled in Senior Brooke Kinley (Lexington, NC), but, Randolph was able to score four runs in the bottom of the six inning to pull to within one run, 5-4.  However, the Pride would hold on for the win, as they closed out the bottom of the seventh inning.

Greensboro was led by Sox who finished 3-3 with a double and 3 RBI's, while Kinley was 2-4 and Junior Ivy Ray (Thomasville, NC) was 2-5 with 2 runs.  In addition, Senior Kassie Simmons (Gibsonville, NC) held on for the win, pitching seven innings, while recording 3 strikeouts.

Game 2
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when Senior Kailey Walker (Eden, NC) singled to left field to drive in Freshman Raven Taylor (Laurel Hill, NC) for the first run of the game.  Two batters later, Sox came to the plate and cleared the bases to give the Pride the advantage, 3-0.  The Wildcats answered in their half of the third inning, but pitcher Junior Lauren Engel (Huntersville, NC) got Greensboro out of the inning to limit any damage.  She would continue to shut down Randolph, which was enough as the Pride would complete the sweep winning by a score of 3-2.

Once again, Sox led Greensboro finishing 2-3 with 2 RBI's, while Walker added an RBI of her own.  In addition, Engel pitched a full game recording 5 strikeouts.

The Pride will travel to Raleigh this weekend to compete in the Grand Slam Triangle Classic.  They will play three games beginning on Saturday March 4th when they face Oberlin College.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm.
