Greensboro falls on the road to Roanoke, 8-3

Box Score Salem, VA – After returning home last night from Virginia, the Greensboro College Baseball team boarded the bus again this morning to head back to the Commonwealth to face Roanoke College.  It was their second game of the week against an ODAC opponent, and they were looking to make it two wins in a row for the week.

n the bottom of the 1st-inning, the Maroons scored on a double to left center, but Freshman Brody Gardner (Asheboro, NC) answered in the top of the 2nd-inning, hitting in a two RBI double driving in Freshmen Gavin Fleming (Gibonsville, NC) and Hudson Powell (Greensboro, NC) , to grab the advantage at 2-1.  Greensboro's next at bat saw Junior Adam Weber (Mebane, NC) push Gardner across home plate ,with his own RBI single, to give the Pride a two run lead, 3-1.  The next few innings would remain scoreless but in the bottom of the 7th and 8th-innings, the Roanoke bats came alive as they rallied to score seven straight runs, which was enough for the Pride to suffer their second loss of the season, 8-3.

Weber led Greensboro finishing the game 2-3 with 1 RBI, while Gardner drove in two runs, and added a double.  The Pride will return to action on Sunday, February 26thh as they host Averett University at Truist Point Stadium in High Point, NC.  This will be the second time the two teams have met this week and they will play a doubleheader beginning  at 1:00pm.
