Game Recap: Baseball |

Greensboro splits Sunday doubleheader with Lycoming with a walk-off in the 10th to win Game 1

Greensboro, NC - It was an early start on Sunday morning for the Greensboro College Baseball team and Lycoming College as they would play in a doubleheader, which consisted of one 9-inning game and one 7-inning game.  The Pride were coming off the season opening win the night before and they were looking to carry that momentum into the two games. It would be a tale of two games with Greensboro pulling off a dramatic comeback in Game 1 for an extra-inning win, 4-3 but would fall in Game 2 by a score of 16-3.

Game 1
The Pride wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the first-inning, as Junior Adam Weber (Mebne, NC) came across the plate after Freshman Alden Kolessar (Summerfield, NC) reached base on an error by the Warrior shortstop.  However, Lycomimg answered with three runs of their own, to take the lead, 3-1.  After shutting down the Warriors in the top pf the 9th-inning, Greensboro had one last opportunity in the bottom of the inning and they would take advantage of it.  With Weber in scoring position, Junior Cameron Edmonds (Whitsett, NC) lined a double to left field, bringing Weber around and then with the bases loaded, Freshman Hudson Powell (Greensboro, NC) came to the plate and worked the count, earning the walk and the RBI as Freshman Louis Berini (Bahama, NC) advanced home to tie the game and send it into extra innings at 3-3.  Pitcher Freshman Stephen Dunlow (Oxford, NC) retired Lycoming in the top of the 10th-inning and with a runner in scoring position for the Pride in the bottom half of the inning, Weber drilled a single to left field for the walk-off, giving Greensboro the come from behind win, 4-3.

Game 2
The Warrior bats came alive as they quickly scored two runs in the first-inning, however, the Pride would tie it up after RBI singles from Edmonds and Senior Connor Morehouse (Kansas City, MO). Unfortunately, they would only cross home plate one more time, and Lycoming would add 14 more runs to give Greensboro their first loss of the season, 16-3.

The Pride will return to action Tuesday, February 21st when they travel to Danville, VA to face Averett University.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm.
