Misenheimer, NC – Saturday was a win or go home game for the Greensboro College Men's Basketball team as they went on the road to face Pfeiffer University. In order to move on to the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament, the Pride would need to come away with the win, but unfortunately, it did not go in the favor of Greensboro as they fell to the Falcons by a final score of 92-82.
Pfeiffer scored nine straight points to start the first quarter, until Junior
Isaiah Pruett (Asheville, NC) answered with a three-pointer to stop the run. Unfortunately, the Pride were unable to get a run going of their own, and suddenly they found themselves trailing, 25-7. Free throws by Junior
Erik Alvey (Durham, NC) and a three-pointer from Senior
Kevon Wright (Greensboro, NC) pulled Greensboro to within 10 points and eventually a jumper by Junior
Amillia Huggins (Greensboro, NC) sent the Pride into the half only training by nine points, 47-38.
As the second half got under way, a Junior
Matthew Brown (Orlando, FL) jumper trimmed the deficit to five points and then a few possessions later Huggins hit a basket to tie the game at 54-54. With 12:40 remaining in the game, Senior
Ty Hill (Shallotte, NC) put Greensboro ahead by five points, but the Falcons would eventually reclaim a small lead. The game was tied again at 76-76, but Pfeiffer began to pull away and as the final buzzer sounded, the Pride's season would come to end falling to Pfeiffer, 92-82.
Junior
Tim Boulware (Greensboro, NC) led Greensboro with 17 points and 8 rebounds, while Pruett drained 3 three-pointers to finish with 16 points. In addition, Wright grabbed a total of 9 rebounds. The Pride finish the season with an overall record of 10-15 and a conference record of 5-9.
