BUENA VISTA, V.A.- Greensboro College defeated the Knights of Southern Virginia by a score of 47-7 Saturday afternoon to bring them their first victory on the season.
The Pride came out strong on their opening possession driving the ball 78 yards and finished with Quarterback
Alec Williams-Carr connecting toÂ
Ryan Buchanan for a 21 yard touchdown. On the defensive side, The Pride would respond by forcing a fumble that would be recovered by LinebackerÂ
Tyler Alston. In response to the fumble recovery Williams-Carr would connect once again with Buchanan for a 10 yard touchdown reception.Â
Following the kickoff Greensboro's Linebacker
Max Steele recovered yet another fumble and returned it for 20 yards spotting the Pride at the Knights 6 yard line. Williams-Carr connected for his third touchdown pass to
Tegan Griggs. To close the quarter, the Pride would earn their third turnover of the game when
Jaden James intercepted a Knights pass to return it for 28 yards. The Pride would not be able to capitalize on the turnover, taking them into the 2nd quarter 20-0.
The Pride continued their defensive dominance when JuJuan Givens intercepted the ball returning it 28 yards to the Knights 28 yard line. Not to be outdone, the offense quickly turned this into points when Williams-Carr connected withÂ
Shamar Privette on a 26 yard touchdown pass extending the lead to 27-0.Â
The Pride's defense would stay strong as freshman
Nyzier Mitchell continued to apply pressure on the Knights quarterback creating another turnover.Â
Will Pailthorpe would come up big with yet another interception putting the Pride back on the offensive side. The Pride would go 3 plays and out but didn't give the Knights any leeway as
Larry Jones would earn a pick six for an 11 yards.
To end the 1st half,Â
Dejuan Robinson came off the edge to get his hands on the punt from the Knights giving the Pride the ball at midfield. Williams-Carr capped it off with a good drive strikingÂ
Tegan Griggs for their 2nd combination on the day for 29 yards. The Pride would go into the half with a dominate lead 40-0.Â
The second half would start off a bit different than the first half as both teams failed to advance the ball into the opposing teams territory. With just over a minute in the 3rd quarter, Williams-Carr would find Rodney Scott for a 9 yard touchdown pass.
Alex Mora would hammer in the extra point to put the Pride up 47-0. Â
In the 4th quarter, SVU would finally be able to find the endzone on a 41 yard touchdown pass that fell in the hands of Isaac McMullin.Â
It was a complete game from start to finish for the Pride.
Alec Williams-Carr would throw for 285 yards, completing 24 out of 32 passes and 6 touchdowns.

Ryan Buchanan would combine for 187 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.Â
Defensively,
Will Pailthorpe lead the Pride with 6 total tackles including 2 tackles for loss and an interception. The Pride would force 6 turnovers on the day, wreaking havoc for the Knights.Â
For the 2nd time this year the Pride recorded 5 interceptions in a single game. They currently lead the USA South with 17 interceptions, which places them tied for 3rd in the country at the Division III level. The 40 point victory was the largest margin of victory for Greensboro College in over 20 years.Â
The Pride following their bye week will face-off for their last contest of the year on Pride Field against conference foe Methodist University on Saturday, November 11th. Prior to the game, Head Coach Tyler Card will honor his seniors. Kickoff is slated for 12:00PM.Â
