Pride Fight Back In Thrilling Victory

Greensboro, NC - In a nail-biting, exhilarating showdown, the Greensboro Pride Volleyball team pulled off a remarkable comeback victory, roaring back from being down 2 sets to 0 to ultimately triumph over the Methodist University Monarchs. The Pride's resilience was on full display, as they clawed back to secure a stunning 3-2 victory.

The Monarchs came out of the gate strong, seizing the first set with a 25-20 victory. They continued their dominance in the second set, narrowly edging the Pride 27-25. However, it was what transpired in the break between sets that turned the tide in favor of the Pride.

Head Coach Kevin Troup had a heart-to-heart conversation with his team, igniting a spark that would fuel their comeback. The Pride emerged from that pivotal discussion on fire, displaying unwavering grit and determination.

In the following three sets, the Pride took control of the match, winning with scores of 25-17, 25-18, and a nail-biting 16-14 in the fifth set. \

The Pride had standout performances from several players. Payton Shiflet led the way with an impressive 28 kills, showcasing her offensive prowess. Taylor Cotie added 17 kills of her own, while Krista Brantley contributed 11, further bolstering the team's offensive efforts.

Kennedi Brumley and Morgan Mayfield delivered crucial aces, while Jade Vrobel, Taylor Cotie, and Krista Brantley combined for solid blocks.

Jaylyn Templeton was instrumental in facilitating the offense with an impressive 66 assists.

Defensively, the Pride displayed remarkable grit. Morgan Mayfield led the team with 34 digs, while Lauren Mantel and Payton Shiflet chipped in with 22 and 19 digs, respectively. These efforts on the backline were crucial in securing the comeback victory.

With this incredible comeback win under their belts, the Pride looks forward to their next challenge. The team will be back in action on October 25th, hosting conference rival Southern Virginia University at Hanes Gymnasium. The match is set to start at 6:00 PM, and fans are eagerly anticipating another thrilling performance from the Pride as they continue their journey in pursuit of success in the conference.
