Whirlwind at Wesleyan

GREENSBORO, NC - It was a hard-fought battle on the road for the Greensboro College football team as they faced off against North Carolina Wesleyan falling 34-28.

Quarterback Alec Williams-Carr, led the Pride's offense, exhibited resilience and determination despite the challenging circumstances. Williams-Carr completed 13 of 29 passes, accumulating 166 passing yards, he also contributed to the ground game, adding 25 yards on 9 carries.

Two game-changing moments for the Pride came by way of Ja'Shawn Harris. The first was a remarkable 67-yard touchdown run and as an encore, he returned a 98 yard kick return for touchdown.

Rodney Scott shouldered the rushing load, carrying the ball 14 times for 47 yards, while Ja'Xavier Legare added 26 yards on 8 carries. The ball was effectively spread across the offensive unit, with six different pass-catchers getting their hands on the pigskin.

Ja'Xavier Legare and Leonard Greer shared the receiving spotlight, each tallying 36 yards. Tegan Griggs showcased his skills with 2 catches for 32 yards, and Mandre Ogletree contributed with 3 catches for 27 yards. Despite the challenges faced, the offense exhibited moments of promise and potential.

On the defensive side, the Pride showcased their resilience and playmaking abilities. Omahr Ramirez and Cedrick Crenshaw combined to record the team's lone sack of the day. Max Steele  amassing an impressive 11 tackles.

The secondary, often referred to as "Air Traffic Control," continued their knack for interceptions. The Pride's defense managed to intercept five passes throughout the game. Ben Mangungu, who contributed with 9 tackles, also secured an interception. Larry Jones and DeWayne Smith exhibited their ball-hawking ability, while William Paithorpe added two more to the tally.

Their next challenge will be on home turf, where they are set to face Huntingdon College on October 21st.
