Box Score Greensboro, N.C. - The Greensboro College Men's Soccer team traveled to Averett University on Tuesday night as they looked to pick up the first victory of the 2022 season.
Head Coach Nambi Nyepon's squad would absolutely come to play and only a successful penalty by the Cougars at the 70:35 mark in the game would leave the Pride winless, as they boarded the bus in Danville, VA and headed back home.
Coach Nyepon had these comments on the game and steady improvement he is seeing:Â "I felt our guys were the aggressors most of the game. We had some quality looks and
Brady Mowers was able to find the back of the net which we needed. We are growing as a team and the young guys are starting to gel together on the field. This upcoming game against Lynchburg will be a true measuring stick for this team on Thursday at Pride Field. We hope the fans will come out and support the Pride."Â
Prior to the late winner, the Pride fell behind by a goal at the 41.23 mark. But as quickly as deficit occurred, the Pride would roar back as Brady Mower leveled the score 1-1. With the first Pride goal of the season at the 56:16 mark, the game was brand new. Unfortunately, the tied score would not be the last goal of the contest as the Cougar's penalty kick late in the game would be the difference maker as Averett University would nip the Pride by a score of 2-1.
The Greensboro Pride Men's Soccer team will be returning to Pride Field on Thursday, September 9th at 7:00PM. They will be facing the University of Lynchburg.
