Greensboro, N.C. - The Greensboro College Women's Soccer team long running homestand is drawing closer to an end. On Wednesday night at Pride Field, Head Coach
Mike Johnston would again have to maneuver a roster around which is now being decimated by injury and illness. The opponents will continue to line-up and the entire coaching staff and team must continue to improve as conference play will begin soon.
Bridgewater College would come to town with a 2-2-0 record, with the Pride trying to find their fist victory. Freshman goalie
Sofia Pagnamenta stayed active throughout the game fending off 13 shots for saves, while having 26 shots attempted throughout.
The first half would remain scoreless up until the final 12 seconds as Megan Palm for the Eagles would launch a tough angled shot from the corner that found the net for a deflating goal for the Pride, as they would enter the half down 0-1.
The second half would continue to see offensive struggles for the Pride and at the 57:57 mark Alicia Keo with the Eagles would add another tally to open a two-goal lead and that score would remain throughout the half and until the final horn.
Pride's Head Coach
Mike Johnston had these post game remarks: "All the credit to Bridgewater, they are a great team with a ton of quality. We battled in the first half, and I felt to concede a goal with a few seconds left before halftime was a huge let down for us. All year we have talked about responding positively to adversity and we did that in the second half. We had some players playing in different spots tonight and overall, I think we competed. We have got to be better in critical situations. But I am pleased with our effort."
The Pride will end a long home stand by welcoming Randolph-Macon to Pride Field on Saturday, September 17th for a 2:00PM start.
