DEMOREST, GA--Greensboro opened the double elimination USA South Conference Tournament with a 2-0 win over Covenant on Thursday.  USA South Pitcher of the Year Cheyanne Cox reached a milestone 200th strikeout of the season, while pitching a complete game shutout from the mound, allowing just three hits and striking out 11 batters.

Alexis Sox got the Pride offense off to a hot start with a RBI-single in the 4th inning to bring around Brittany Apgar, and Sox came through again in the 6th with another RBI-single to score Kassie Simmons to give GC an insurance run.

Cox did not need the extra help, with a 1-2-3 7th inning to close out the victory.

The Pride will next face top-seeded Piedmont tomorrow at 2pm.
