GREENSBORO, NC--The women's lacrosse team honored _
Destinee Allen,
Selena Najera,
Keeley Breza,
Logan Schnabl, and
Lauren Whitley in their last home game at Pride Field on Saturday, as they hosted the Pacers of William Peace. William Peace would go on to win a hard-fought 12-7 contest.
Selena Najera got the Pride started with a quick goal at the 3:27Â mark of the 1st period to bring GC back to within one at a 2-1 lead for the Pacers.Â
Cassie Hindes then knotted things up with just 2:16 left in the 1st. Keeley Breeza would add another goal for the Pride, but the Pacers took a 5-3 lead into halftime.
Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce won the opening draw control of the 2nd half, and ran down the field to put one past the goalie just 24 seconds into the 3rd period.
However, William Peace was led by Madison Bradley's six goals on the day, and would go on to win 12-7, despite
Lauren Cummings and
Logan Schnabl each adding to the Pride's tally.
Greensboro was able to outshoot the Pacers 29-23, and showed grit in gathering 57 groundballs to William Peace's 43.
Greensboro will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Guilford College next Saturday at 4pm.
