The Pride Softball team won its 5th consecutive game with a Sunday sweep of Ithaca yesterday (March 13th). Greensboro overcame an early 3-0 deficit in game one, winning 9-6 behind clutch performances at the plate from
Alexis Sox and
Hannah King. Sox went 3-4 for the game, scoring a run in the process. King's 2-RBI single in the 5th inning put Greensboro on top 5-4, andÂ
M'Kenzie Davis' triple brought in three more runs in part of the pivotal 5th inning.
In game two,
Alexis Sox and
Hannah King again provided a spark for the Pride offense. Sox put the Pride in front on a 2-RBI double in the 3rd inning, Hannh King as the next batter brought Sox in to score on a RBI-single. Speedster
Brittany Apgar capitalized on a fielding error by Ithaca to put Greensboro up 4-0 in the 5th inning.
Lauren Engel went the distance from the mound, pitching a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and one walk.
Greensboro improves to 9-1 on the year, and will head to Roanoke on March 17th at 2pm.
