Greensboro, NC - After winning their first game of the Guilford Holiday Classic, the Greensboro College Men's Basketball team was looking to come away with its second win in two days. It would not be easy though, as they were facing a Bridgewater State University team that was 9-2 on the season and putting up a lot of points. It would be a back-and-forth affair, even going to overtime, but they were unable to come away with the win, falling 86-84.

Mason Sergi (Ashburn, VA) put the Pride on the board first to start the first half with two straight baskets, and a few possessions later Junior
Isaiah Pruett (Asheville, NC) would give Greensboro the early lead, 6-3. A three-pointer from Senior
Ty Hill (Shallotte, NC) extended the advantage and at the first media timeout, Greensboro held a two-point lead, 11-9. Out of the timeout, Sophomore
Grant Thompson (Graham, NC) converted a free throw, which was followed by three-pointers from Junior
Rujon Walters (Kinston, NC) and Hill to grab the Pride's largest lead of the game, 18-9. Walters would score again, to increase the advantage to double-digits, and on the next possession Junior
Erik Alvey (Durham, NC) came off of the bench to score, keeping the Greensboro lead at 12-points. The Bears began to cut into the deficit and suddenly it was only a five-point game. A Junior
Tim Boulware (Greensboro, NC) layup stopped the Bridgewater State run, however that would be short lived as the Bears, once again, cut into the lead and found themselves only trailing by one-point, 30-29. With 2:13 remaining in the half, the score was tied, and Bridgewater State would eventually take their first lead of the game 34-32. However, with just 40 seconds left in the half, Sergi drained a three-pointer, allowing his team to go into the locker room at halftime leading 35-34.
The second half began with a Bears' three-pointer, but two baskets from Brown and a free-throw by Pruett put the Pride back ahead, 40-37. However, a few minutes later Bridgewater State recaptured the advantage, only to lose it again after a Boulware three-pointer. The back-and-forth continued and at the 15:21 mark of the game, the Bears held a three-point lead, 47-44. They would eventually extend their lead to five points and at the media timeout, Greensboro trailed 54-51. After more back-and-forth, a Pruett basket allowed the Pride to regain the lead, 60-59 and they would keep it until the Bears converted two free-throws, with 6:35 remaining in the game. However, with just under four minutes left on the clock, Boulware tied things up at 70-70. After taking a one-point lead, Hill stepped up on the defensive end of the court, stealing the ball and getting it to Sergi, who was fouled. He was able to make one of two free throws but that was not enough, as Bridgewater State would tie the game, sending it to overtime, 76-76.
The Bears took a two-point lead to start overtime, but Greensboro answered with a Hill three-pointer, for the one-point advantage. However, Bridgewater State would eventually regain the lead and a shot fell short at the buzzer, as the Pride fell to the Bears by a final score of 86-84.
Junior
Matthew Brown (Orlando, FL) led Greensboro with 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Boulware finished the game with 15 points. In addition, Hill added 14 points, to go along with his 9 rebounds and 4 steals and Pruett finished with 12 points and 7 assists. The Pride will return to action Tuesday, January 3rd as they travel to Piedmont University for a 3:00pm tip-off.
