Wrestling Falls To Ferrum In First Home Match Of The Season

Greensboro, NC – The Greensboro College Men's Wrestling team hosted their first home dual match of the season against Ferrum College at Hanes Gymnasium.  Even though the students are on break, fans from both teams filled the stands and created a lot of enthusiasm for all the matches.  While Ferrum would come away with the ODAC win, 35-11, the Pride showed a lot of heart and wrestled tough against the Panthers.

The first two matches saw Ferrum win by technical fall and then a forfeit in the 141 weight class, but two-time All-American Josh Wilson put Greensboro on the board with a dominate 20-5 technical fall win in the 149 weight class match.  The Pride would lose the 157 match and then have a forfeit in 165 match, however, Luke Gregory was impressive for Greensboro in the 174lb match, earning a hard fought pin against his opponent.  The Panthers picked up wins in the next two matches and then Brandon Williams forced his opponent to overtime in the final match of the night, but eventually fell by decision, 4-2.

The Pride are back in action this weekend as they travel to Pennsylvania to participate in the Petrofes Tournament.  Stay tuned to www.greensborocollegesports.com for all match updates and recaps.
