Box Score Greensboro, N.C. – The Greensboro College Women's Soccer Team hosted Salem College on Saturday afternoon for their final match of the regular season. The final would result in a 0-0 draw.
Prior to the match, Head Coach
Mike Johnston honored his four seniors,
Karissa Roggow,
Sierra Tursich,
Haley Russell and
Taylor Kontoulas.
The Pride would come out hot early in the first half, testing Salem's defensive line and goalkeeper. GC controlled the pace most of the half taking five attempts at the back of the net. Despite the opportunities the scoreboard would reflect 0-0 heading into halftime.
Greensboro came out with the same intensity after the break, putting up 11 shots in the second half. Salem's goalkeeper, Jordan Tomberlin, was on her "A" game, denying every shot the Pride would take. Unfortunately, the Pride would not be able to find the back of the net in the second half, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
Hannah McCarthy led the Pride with six shots, playing all 90 minutes. Pride goalkeeper,
Sofia Pagnamenta finished with two saves.
The Pride finish 5-8-4 overall and 3-3-3 in conference play. Coach
Mike Johnston and his squad will now head into the first round of the USA South Tournament as they will travel to William Peace University on Tuesday, November 1st. Game time is TBA.
