Greensboro, N.C. – The Greensboro College Women's Volleyball team hosted the Knights of Southern Virginia on Wednesday evening in Hanes Gym for a USA South conference match. The final for the night cap would favor the Knights with a 3-0 score.
For the Pride,
Payton Shiflet lead the way with 9 kills and 7 digs. Freshman setter,
Jaylyn Templeton put up 15 assists and 7 digs followed by
Lauren Mantel's 12 digs, respectively. For the Knights, Courtney Pinkston lead the way with 14 kills and 11 digs.
The first set would begin with both teams exchanging points early. The Knights would push a four-point rally that started with a kill from Courtney Pinkston to put the score at 14-8. The Pride would then return the favor with a four-point rally of their own.
Taylor Cotie lead the charge with a shot that would land in front of the 10-foot line, bringing the score to 18-16. The rally wouldn't be enough for the Pride as the Knights would push to a 25-19 set win.
The next 2 sets, the Knights would take the momentum with timely kills by their front line and some miscues from the Pride. Set 2 score read 25-13. The Knights would then go on to settle the match with a set 3 score of 25-15.
The Pride look to bounce back this Saturday, October 29
th as they host Mary Baldwin University and William Peace University for a USA South Tri-Match. These two matches will conclude the regular season for the Pride. Match times are scheduled for 12:00PM and 4:00pm.
