The Greensboro College women's soccer team made the trek north to Averett University. A goal in the 80th minute gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
In the first half, both teams were evenly matched with neither side finding the back of the net. Averett (5-4-1, 3-2-0) had three shots on goal compared to one for Greensboro (3-8-2, 1-3-1).
The second half was similar to the first until the 80th minute. The Cougars' Celia de Diego broke the scoreless draw off a pass from Emily Brinson. The Pride put two shots on goal but both were stopped as Averett won 1-0.
Lindsay Fox made six saves in net for GC while Morgann Dills and Alyson Kinkopf combined for the shutout.
Greensboro returns to the triad on Tuesday, October 12 as Methodist University visits Pride Field. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m.
