GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener to the Panthers of Birmingham Southern Sunday 19-7.
The Panthers held a five-goal lead midway through the opening period before
Madison Blashaw and
Mackenzie Burns both found the back of the net to pull Greensboro to within three. However, Birmingham Southern outscored the Pride 3-1 over the final 7:28 of the half to take an 8-3 lead into halftime.
Following halftime, the Panthers struck three more times before
Elizabeth Carr found the back of the net, following an assist from Burns, for the second time on the day to make the score 11-5. Over the remainder of the game, Greensboro got two more goals from Blashaw but fell by the 12-goal margin.
Logan Schnabl led Greensboro with four draw controls and Stephanie Carr recorded six saves, but was credited with the loss.
