DANVILLE, Va. – The Greensboro College women's basketball team defeated the Cougars of Averett University Saturday 66-59
Averett opened the first period on an 8-2 run before Greensboro pulled back to within two with 5:20 showing on the clock. Following the Pride run, Averett then went on a 9-5 run to close out the period with a six-point lead.
Over the next 10 minutes, the Cougars extended their lead out to 10 point at halftime before Greensboro used a 13-0 run over the first five minutes of the third period to take a 38-37 lead. However, the Cougars were able to pull ahead heading into the final 10 minutes, but Greensboro surged out to a 10-point lead midway through the period to secure the victory.
Katie Lewis finished with a team-leading 18 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Ashley Free (12),
Sabria Joseph (15), and
Diajah Hickson (11) also finished in double figures scoring.
