MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team scored three first-half goals to defeat the Falcons of Pfeiffer University Tuesday 3-0.
Greensboro struck for their first goal in the third minute as
Darli Mihindou struck for his third goal of the season off an assist from
Jordy Briceno.
Following the goal, it did not take the Pride long to add on to their lead as
Alexander Bishop scored in ninth minute before Mihindou struck once again for the game's final goal. This time it was Gerado Peraza on the assist.
After taking their 3-0 lead into the break, Greensboro's back line was able to hold on strong down the stretch to secure the shutout victory.
"I am glad to come away with the points tonight," Head Coach
Tony Falvino said. "I thought we had a very good first half. We created good chances and capitalized early. While we are happy with the first half we dropped our standard in the second half. We need to keep our focus and aspire to always to push to raise our standard.
"We get back to the field tomorrow and prepare for our away game at Berea this Saturday."
Elmer Martinez started in goal for the Pride and stopped the lone shot he faced on goal to earn his first victory of the season, while
Remy Brezault played the final 45 minutes in goal.
The Pride men will return to action Saturday when they travel to take on the Mountaineers of Berea College in another conference tilt. For more information on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
