Baseball Continues Run At USA South Tournament With 15-4 Victory Over Huntingdon

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Greensboro College baseball team defeated Huntingdon College in an elimination game at the 2019 USA South Baseball Tournament Saturday 15-4.
 
Huntingdon took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning before Greensboro used a seven-run third to take a 7-1 lead.
 
Greensboro got their first run on a bases loaded walk by Lincoln Hewett before Scotty McGuire plated Hunter Curtis and Tyler Price with a double to shallow center field.
 
After Chance Bryant reached to load the bases again, Blake Carroll hit a RBI single to score Hewett.
 
The Pride was not done there. McGuire scored on a passed ball before Derek Jaar hit a double down the left field line.
 
Rodriguez then came up for a second time in the inning and hit a sacrifice fly to score Carroll.
 
Following the seven-run inning, Huntingdon got the first two runners on base to start the top half of the fourth before Eli Moravick got Colton Clark to fly out to Tim Osborne in right field to end the inning and preserve the six-run lead.
 
However, Huntingdon was able to score on run in the top half of the fifth inning but Greensboro continued to bust the game wide open with a another big inning in the bottom half.
 
The Pride got two more runs via bases loaded walks before Curtis was hit by a pitch to make the score 10-2.
 
Following the hit by pitch, Lincoln Hewett hit a sacrifice pop up to score Jacob Rodriguez for the inning's final run.
 
With Greensboro leading by the 10-run margin, Jarr roped a 1-2 pitch over the left field fence for a two-run homerun to make the score 13-2.
 
Huntington was then able to strike for two runs in the seventh before Greensboro tallied the game's final two runs to take the 11-run victory.
 
Carroll finished with a team-leading four hits while Price went three-for-four at the plate.
 
After Eli Moravick pitched the first four innings, Chenzo Scanio came on and tossed the final five innings to earn the win.
