GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team defeated the Cougars of Averett University on Senior Day Saturday 15-4.
Spencer Kontoulas gave the Pride a one-goal lead just under four minutes into the first period before the Cougars were able to even the game.
Following the Cougars goal, Greensboro outscored the Cougars 9-2 over the next 21 minutes to take a 10-3 lead into halftime.
Michael Meley accounted for two of the goals while
Michael Thomas,
Davis Miller,
Justin Matthews, Kontoulas,
Patrick Bell and
Davis Miller each had one goal.
After taking the seven-goal lead into the break, the Pride outscored the Cougars 5-1 in the second half to secure the 11-goal victory.
Cody Hammock made the start in goal for the Pride and recorded four saves while
Kyle Ishler was credited with the win.
Despite the victory, the Pride saw their season end later in the day as William Peace defeated Pfeiffer University to take the final spot in the conference tournament.
Greensboro finishes the season with an overall record of 7-10.
