GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team fell to the Cougars of Averett University Saturday 18-6.
Prior to the start of the game, Greensboro recognized their three seniors
Kara Whitson, Cheyanne Petrillo-Lavier, and
Murphie Davis.
Averett got on the board in the first two minutes as Adriana Perez found the back of the net off a free position shot giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead
However, the Pride quickly responded back when
Morgan Montgomery scored off a
Madison Blashaw assist tying the game with 24:22 remaining in first half.
Averett then went on a 7-0 run over the next 12 minutes to extend their lead to 8-1.
The Pride tried to fight their way back when
Cheyenne Petrillo-Lavier scored with 6:50 remaining in the first half.
Averett finished the last 5 minutes of the first half finding the back of the net two more times, pushing their lead 10-2
The Cougars went on a 4-0 run in the first 6 minutes to begin the second half of play.
Over the next 24 minutes, both teams were able to strike for four goals before the end of regulation.
Greensboro was unable to pull in the victory despite
Sada Hollowell recording 10 saves on the day.
