GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team fell to the Lions of Piedmont College Sunday 15-7.
Piedmont jumped out to a one-goal lead just over three minutes into the first half before
Madison Blashaw scored for the Pride to tie the game.
The Lions were then able to take a 3-1 lead before
Kara Whitson scored her first goal of the afternoon to pull Greensboro to within one but Piedmont extended their lead back out to two goals less than a minute later.
However,
Cheyenne Petrillo-Lavier and Whitson both found the back of the net over the final three minutes of the half to tie the game at four heading into the break.
Following halftime, Piedmont went on a seven-goal run to open up an 11-4 lead and the Pride was unable to recover despite getting a pair of goals by Whitson and one goal by Blashaw in the half.
Sada Hollowell took the loss in goal despite recording eight saves while Whitson possessed a game-high nine draw controls.
The Pride women will return to action at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when they host the Pacers of William Peace University. For more information on Greensboro College women's lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
