BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Greensboro College softball split a pair of games to open the Birmingham Southern Spring Classic Saturday.
The Pride topped Mount St. Joseph University 3-0 before falling to the host 6-1.
GAME ONE
The two teams went into the fourth inning scoreless before
Jordan Deaton gave Greensboro a 2-0 lead with a homerun to center field, scoring
Caroline Stanley.
Greensboro then added on to their lead in the fifth when
Allyson Loy came across the plate on a
Jasmine Worthy infield single.
Following the Worthy RBI, Greensboro went on to shut down MSJ to secure the three-run victory.
Deaton, Worthy, Loy, and
Regan Lockwood each had one hit for the Pride while
Maddy Wetherholt picked up the win.
GAME TWO
Greensboro was able to score the first run of the game in the third inning when Deaton placed a double into right field to score Stanley.
However, BSC went on to score two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take the five-run victory.
Deaton finished with a team-leading two hits while Stackhouse and Stanley each had one hit.
