Baseball Falls In Series Opener Against North Carolina Wesleyan

Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Greensboro College baseball team dropped the opening game of a three-game USA South Athletic Conference series against the Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan College Friday 15-3.
 
The Bishops took a 11-0 lead into the fourth inning before the Pride was able to get on the board in the top half of the fifth inning.
 
Blake Carroll reached base to open the inning after being hit by a pitch before advancing to third on a single by Hunter Curtis.
 
With Cameron Peters at the plate, Curtis stole second base while Carroll then scored after stealing home.
 
Lincoln Hewett then hit a RBI double to center field after Peters walked, scoring Curtis to make the score 11-2.
 
Greensboro then plated one more run in the inning on a groundout by Scotty McGuire.
 
The Pride then got the leadoff runner on in the fifth but could not push another run across before the Bishops scored one run in the bottom half to extend their lead to 12-3.
 
The Bishops then went on to extend their lead over the final innings to secure the victory.
 
Chenzo Scanio started the game on the mound as was credited with the loss. Curtis, Hewett, and Tyler Price each had one hit for the Pride.
 
The Pride will return to Rocky Mount Saturday for the second game of the three-game set at 2 p.m.
