ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Greensboro College softball team dropped a pair of one-run games against North Carolina Wesleyan College Tuesday to open USA South Athletic Conference play.
In game one, the Bishops took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning before Greensboro scored their lone run of the contest on a
Lilly Baucom single that scored
Courtney Fink.
Greensboro was then able to get the tying run aboard in the seventh but could not push the run across, falling by the 2-1 score.
Wetherholt, who was credited with the loss, had one hit on the day while
Allyson Loy,
Caroline Stanley, Baucom, and Fink also had one hit.
After falling in Game 1, Greensboro got on the board in the first inning after Jasmine Worth scored on a Bishops error before NCWC struck for two runs of their own in the bottom to take a 2-1 lead.
Greensboro then tied the game in the fourth inning on another error before NCWC scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Loy finished with three hits while
Cheyanne Cox was credited with the loss.
The Pride will return to action Friday when they host the Panthers of LaGrange College in another USA South doubleheader.
