GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's basketball team defeated the Angels of Meredith College Wednesday 65-58.
Greensboro struggled from the field in the first period but was able to take a 13-6 lead in the second after closing out the period on a 9-2 run.
Ashley Free fueled the run with six straight points while
Diajah Hickson added a free-throw.
Over the next 10 minutes, the Pride was able to extend their lead out to nine with 3:23 showing on the clock before going into halftime with a 29-15 lead after
Sabria Joseph hit a three-pointer. In the third period, Greensboro was able to extend their lead out to as many as 24 points and did not look back as they held on to secure the seven-point victory, despite being outscored 27-17 in the fourth.
Free finished with a team-high 17 points on the night, while
Katie Lewis (15) and Joseph (11) also finished in double figures scoring.
Diajah Hickson pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
