GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's basketball team used a second half surge to defeat the Panthers of Ferrum College Tuesday 76-67.
Ferrum held a 13-2 lead midway through the first period before taking a 24-11 lead into the second period. Over the next 10 minutes, Greensboro was able to outscore the Panthers 19-16 to pull to within 40-30 at the halftime break.
The third period proved to be even stronger for the Pride. After trailing 51-41 midway through the period, Greensboro closed out the period on a 9-3 run to pull back to within four heading into the final 10 minutes.
Greensboro then rode their momentum over the first three minutes of the fourth period as they posted another run to take their first lead of the contest. Following a three-pointer by
Ashley Free, Greensboro outscored the Panthers 5-2 to take a 58-55 lead.
After taking the three-point advantage, the Pride would not look back as they went on to secure the nine-point victory.
Katie Lewis and Free both finished with 21 points on the evening while
Sabria Joseph chipped in 13 points.
Destiny Timberlake led Greensboro with eight rebounds.
