Football Falls To Methodist

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College football team fell to the Monarchs of Methodist University Saturday 41-10.
 
Methodist took a 7-0 lead on their opening drive before trying an onside kick. On the kick, Jarel Brown picked up the ball on the Monarchs 49-yard line and scampered through the middle of the field and into the end zone. Zac Ellison then added the point after attempt to tie the game.
 
The Monarchs then went on to extend their lead to 21-7 with less than a minute to play in the first half, but Greensboro put together an eight-play drive that resulted in an Ellison 37-yard field goal to pull Greensboro to within 11 at the break.
 
However, Methodist went on to score the final the game's final 20 points in the third quarter to take the victory.
 
David Loughry II finished with 111 yards passing on the day while Saafir Craven and Jakym Clark combined for 67 yards on eight receptions. Montana Williams paced the running game with 61 yards.  Jeremiah Speed finished with a team-high 14 tackles on defense. Ryan Wahl also had a good defensive day with six tackles and one interception.
