GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College volleyball team swept their USA South Athletic Conference tri-match Saturday in Hanes Gymnasium.
Greensboro defeated Methodist University 3-0 to opening the day before defeating the Pacers of William Peace University, for the first time since 2014, in five sets.
Against Methodist, Greensboro dominated the opening set 25-11 before taking a two-set lead in the match with a 25-22 win in Set 2. The Pride was then able to close out the match with another dominating performance in Set 3 (25-11).

Kayce Jo Harris had a team-leading nine digs and three service aces.
Following a one-match break, the Pride held on down the stretch to win Set 1 against William Peace before the Pacers pulled even with a 25-20 win in Set 2. In Set 3, Greensboro trailed by a 19-15 score before outscoring the Pacers 10-5 down the stretch to win the set 25-23.
However, William Peace responded in Set 4 to tie the match once again with a 25-23 win to send the game into a decisive fifth set.
In the fifth, Greensboro opened the set on a 7-0 run behind the serve of
Carly Uhlir. Greensboro continued to feed off of the energy in the gym and was able to hold on to close out the match with a 15-7 victory.
Egbers had a match-high 15 kills while Stout and Uhlir also finished with double-figure kills. Harris once again posted a match-high 36 digs and Dixie Faulk finished with 35 assists.
"I can't express how proud I am of the team today," Head Coach
Kevin Troup said. "We came out of the gate swinging and got in rhythm against Methodist. We capitalized on their mistakes and worked extremely hard defensively. Going into the William Peace match, we knew that we had to be disciplined on defense and had to know where their number 15 was at all time.
"We did a great job neutralizing her and serving tough. Both teams were scrappy defensively but I think we out scrapped them and made played when needed. We kept the momentum and capitalized on the big plays."
The Pride will return to action Wednesday when they host Mary Baldwin University for senior day. For more information on Greensboro College volleyball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
