LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team fell to the Hawks of Huntingdon College Saturday in the semifinal round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament, 12-5.
Huntingdon scored four goals over the first eight minutes of the opening period before
Victor Mehrtens found the back of the net for the Pride to pull the Pride within three goals.
However, the Hawks extended their lead to 7-1 over the next four minutes, but
Michael Halladay took a pass from
Andrew Klementz and beat the Huntingdon keeper to make the score 7-2 heading into halftime.
Greensboro struck first in the third period on a goal by
Kyle Dahlin to pull within four goals once again, but could not get any closer falling by the seven-goal margin.
Austin Bane and
Ryan Cole accounted for the Pride's final two goals of the contest.
"This team overcame a lot of adversity this season to have the year we had," head coach
Mike Foderaro said. "I am proud of the direction the program is moving in.
"We had great support from all of our friends and family all season long and we greatly appreciate that."
With the loss, the Pride men conclude the season with an overall record of 9-9.
