ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell in the first round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament to N.C. Wesleyan Tuesday, 113-86.
The two teams traded baskets over the first three minutes before the Bishops used a 17-9 run to gain a 30-22 lead midway through the half.
Wesleyan then went on to take their largest lead of the half before Greensboro used a 6-0 run to pull to within 48-39.
Darus Maddox accounted for four points, while
Demetrius Tilley had two points.
Despite pulling to within single digits, Greensboro went into the half trailing 57-41.
Over the final 20 minutes of play, the Pride competed hard but would get no closer than 15 points.
"We played very hard tonight," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "In the end, N.C. Wesleyan made more plays on both ends of the floor. I am really proud of how our team competed.
"I want to thank our seniors for their commitment to our program. They wore the Greensboro College jersey with Pride."
Joseph Gatling finished with a team-high 16 points, while
Cornelius Johnson and
Carmoni Marks had 15 points.
Demetrius Tilley tallied 14 points.
