FERRUM, Va.—The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell to the Panthers of Ferrum College Wednesday, 83-62.
The Panthers jumped out ahead in the first five minutes to take a 15-7 lead, but Ferrum did not hold onto the lead for long.
Ferrum's eight-point lead turned into a two-point lead after a 21-14 run started by a three-pointer from
Justin Minnis. The freshman helped the Pride fire up the run with three consecutive three-point baskets. Minnis drained one more three during the run, while
Darus Maddox (4),
Corey Burnette (2),
Keyford Langley (2) and
Cornelius Johnson (1) also put up points for the Pride. The ten-minute run put Greensboro up 29-28, but Ferrum kept pace with the Pride and went into the break with a 37-34 lead.
At the start of the second half, Ferrum pulled out a huge run while Greensboro struggled from the field and the Panthers walked away with the win.
"Tonight was a disappointing performance," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "We just didn't come to play at all.
"One more game of the regular season to see what we got."
Minnis finished with a team-high 15 points after shooting 83.3 percent from three-point land.
Demetrius Tilley brought down a team-high five rebounds, while Langley dished out a team-high four assists.
The men's basketball team will return to Hanes Gymnasium one last time this season on Saturday at 4 p.m. as they celebrate senior day. For more information on Greensboro College men's basketball, continue to follow
