GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's basketball took on the Spartans of UNC-Greensboro Tuesday in an exhibition contest, at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The score nor the stats reflected the effort and heart displayed by the Pride men as they competed against a much bigger and stronger NCAA Division I team in one of the most iconic buildings in all of college sports.
"We just beat by a bigger opponent tonight and we were just out matched," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "I thought our energy and effort in the first half was really good but we just could not keep it up.
"The stats are not indicative about how our basketball team is as it was much more than a game. It gave our guys an awesome experience to play in the Greensboro Coliseum and to play against a Division I opponent. Overall it was a good experience for our kids and it also provided us with an opportunity to grow heading into conference play."
Noah Watkins paced Greensboro in scoring with seven points while also pulling down five rebounds.
Keyshawn Dorsey had six rebounds and
Michael Phifer recorded five rebounds, four points, and four assists.
The Pride men will return to action at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when they open USA South Athletic Conference play at William Peace University.
