DANVILLE, Va. — The Greensboro College volleyball team fell to the Cougars of Averett University in USA South Athletic Conference action Wednesday, 3-0.
Greensboro dropped a tightly contested opening set 25-21 before dropping the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-15.
Sarah Egbers posted a team-leading seven kills in the match, while Alycia Artis had six kills.
Egbers also led the Greensboro defense in digs with 11. Katie Clark passed for 15 assists.
"We came out with a lot of energy at the start of the match but Averett went on a run that made it hard for us to overcome," Head Coach Kevin Troup said. "We had some great moments in the match but weren't able to string them together.
"Our goal moving forward is to play cohesively for a full set rather than a few spurts here and there."
The Pride will return to action Saturday when they travel to Methodist University for another USA South tri-match.
