GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College volleyball team fell to the Maroons of Roanoke College on Senior Day Monday, 3-0.
Prior to the start of the match, the Pride recognized seniors
Katie Clark,
Jordan Ware and
Tori Belcher.
In the first set, Greensboro fell behind in early and could not recover, falling by a 25-20 score.
Following their first set loss, the Pride rushed out to a 9-4 lead in Set 2 before the Maroons raced back to take the lead at 12-11.
Despite a late push by Greensboro, Roanoke went on to take a 2-0 lead in the match after recording a 25-22 win before closing out the match with a 25-20 win in Set 3.
"We played really well against a solid Roanoke team tonight," Head Coach
Kevin Troup said. "I cannot express just how proud I am of the hustle and heart of our seniors and the entire team.
"I also cannot thank the seniors enough for everything they have done, they will be missed."
Sarah Egbers and
Alycia Artis both had eight kills on the night, while Ware pitched in three blocks and five kills. Clark passed for 25 assists.
Defensively,
Tori Belcher led the way with 19 digs.
