MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Greensboro College football team suffered a 48-6 defeat against the Scots of Maryville College Saturday.
The Scot opened up a 41-0 lead midway through the third quarter before the Pride got on the board.
After getting the ball back on their own 25-yard line, Greensboro marched down the field in just six plays to the end zone on a
Chastin Robinson pass to
Ryan Wahl from 16-yards out.
Following the Pride touchdown, Maryville drove the ball down the field once again but
Kasseem Bagley recorded his first interception of the season in the end zone to give Greensboro the ball on their own 20-yard line.
However, Greensboro was unable to take advantage of the turnover and was forced to punt the ball back over to the Scots.
The Scots then scored their final touchdown of the contest early in to fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Chastin Robinson passed for a team-high 96 yards, while
Tolan Jones paced Greensboro on the ground with 37 yards on 11 carries.
Garratt Brannock had a game-high 16 tackles.
"I was happy with the effort of our defense today but it is hard when they spend a lot of time on the field," Head Coach
Greg Crum said. "We had some mistakes that cost us today but we definitely showed a glimpse of what kind of team we can be if we get everything going at the same time.
"Maryville is a well-established program and they did a great job. We will continue to get better each week."
The Pride will return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they host the Monarchs of Methodist University for homecoming. For more information on Greensboro College football, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
