Men's Soccer Improves To 3-0 In USA South Play

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Greensboro College men's soccer team improved to 3-0 in USA South Athletic Conference play Sunday with a 4-1 victory over Huntingdon College.

Cole Watkins scored off an assist from Jordy Briceno in the 15th minute to give Greensboro a early one-goal lead before Jared Heller tallied his third goal of the season to push the Pride lead to 2-0 just 19 minutes into the contest.

The score then remained the same for the next 40 minutes before the Hawks scored their lone goal of the afternoon to cut the Greensboro advantage in half.

Following the Huntingdon goal, Alexander Bishop regained the two-goal lead for Greensboro when he was able to beat the Hawks keeper for his third goal of the season.

As the game entered the 83rd minute, Scott Wright scored the game's final goal to secure the three-goal victory for the Pride.

"I think the boys did well with a short turnaround and a very physical game yesterday," Head Coach Tony Falvino said. "We came away healthy and picked up two wins on the road, which is great.

"Now we have to focus on another conference game upcoming this Thursday."

Jaime Payamps recorded two saves in goal for the Pride to collect the victory.

The Pride men will return to action at 3 p.m. Thursday when they host the Cougars of Averett University. For more information on Greensboro College men's soccer, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
