MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Greensboro College softball team split a USA South doubleheader with Huntingdon College Sunday.
Greensboro took the opening game, 8-3, before falling in Game 2, 4-3.
Game One
Greensboro took a one-run lead in the third inning before striking for five runs in the fourth inning.
Hayley Rumley scored
Kali Puckett with a bases loaded walk before
Hayley Tickle hit a RBI single to center field.
Following the Tickle hit,
Kaylee Johnson and
Mandi Ballard recorded consecutive RBI singles.
Huntingdon then scored the game's next three runs before Greensboro scored the final two runs of the contest on a
Taylor Little triple to right field in the seventh inning.
Little finished with a team-high three hits and two RBIs, while Johnson,
Brittainy Rush, and Puckett had two hits each.
Maddy Wetherholt picked up the complete game victory.
Game Two
Huntingdon took a three-run lead in the second inning before Greensboro pulled within one run with a two-run fifth inning.
Madison Crisco plated the Pride's first run with a triple down the right field line before coming in to score on a Rumley single to right field.
Greensboro then tied the game at three in the sixth inning after Johnson came across the plate on a Hawks error.
However, Huntingdon would score the game winning run in the bottom half of the seventh inning.
Johnson had a team-high two hits, while Rumley,
Melissa Garcia, Ballard, Puckett, and Crisco had one hit each. Tickle was credited with the loss, while recording three strikeouts.
