LaGRANGE, Ga. – The Greensboro College softball team split a USA South Athletic Conference doubleheader with LaGrange College Saturday.
LaGrange took Game 1 by a 6-5 mark before Greensboro took the nightcap, 5-2.
"We were happy to end the day with a win," Head Coach
Teresa Fister said. "We were able to string some well-timed hits together and played tight defense in both games."
Greensboro took a two-run lead in the top half of the first inning of Game 1 before LaGrange countered for five runs to take a 5-2 lead.

Following the five-run inning by the Panthers, Greensboro was able to pull within two runs after Rumley hit a sacrifice fly of her own in the second inning to score
Kali Puckett.
However, LaGrange scored again in the third inning before the Pride scored the game's final two runs in the fourth inning.
Madison Crisco led off the fourth with a solo homerun to left-center field before
Hayley Rumley scored on a passed ball later in the inning to pull Greensboro to within 6-5.
Greensboro then had an opportunity to tie the game in the sixth and seventh innings but was unable to push the tying run across.
Rumley, Johnson, and Puckett had two hits each, while
Mandi Ballard,
Taylor Little, Crisco, and Collins had one hit each.
Hayley Tickle struck out three batters but was credited with the loss.
After dropping the first game, Greensboro scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead in Game 2.
Brittany Rush recorded a RBI double to right-center field to score Ballard before Little hit a triple down the right field line to score the final two runs of the inning.
LaGrange then cut the Pride advantage down to one-run with a two-run fourth inning before Collins helped secure the three-run victory with a 2 RBI single to left-center field in the seventh inning.
Ballard and Puckett had a team-high two hits each, while Johnson, Collins, Rush, Little, and Crisco combined for five hits. Maddy Weatherholt earned the pitching victory after recording three strikeouts over seven innings.
