GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team fell to Oberlin College Friday, 18-6.
Oberlin established a three-goal lead over the first 12 minutes before
Peyton Joyce tallied her ninth goal of the season to pull Greensboro within two goals.
Oberlin then went on a five-goal run to push their lead to 8-1.
However,
Natalie Ritchey scored with 1:36 showing on the first half clock off an assist from
Kara Whitson to make the score 8-2 heading into the half.
Over the first 15 minutes of the second half, Oberlin was able to take a 15-3 after outscoring the Pride 7-1.
Laine Walston scored for the Pride off an assist from Ritchey.
As the half progressed, Ritchey would score two more goals but the Pride fell by the 12-goal margin.
"We got out on a slow start and could not recover," Head Coach
Christie Hebert said. "We will get back to practice tomorrow and get ready for Piedmont."
Ritchey had a team-high three-goals and one assist, while
Christina SanGiacomo, Joyce, and Whitson also had one assist each.
Kianna Anderson took the loss in goal despite making nine saves.
