ROANOKE, Va. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team picked up their third win of the season Sunday by defeating Hollins University, 19-1.
Peyton Joyce got the scoring started just 40 seconds into the contest off an assist from
Natalie Ritchey.
Greensboro then extended their lead to 6-0 over the next ten minutes as
Christina SanGiacomo scored two goals, while
Kara Whitson,
Laine Walston,
Mackenzie Flemmons, and Ritchey each scored two goals. Joyce had two assists during the five-goal run, while Walston and Whitson had one assist.
After the Pride established the six-goal advantage,
Natalie Ritchey scored two goals to push the lead to eight before
Murphie Davis, Whitson, Walston, and SanGiacomo scored to send Greensboro into halftime with a 12-0 lead.
In the second half, the Pride got goals from SanGiacomo,
Alexandra DiStefano, Whitson, Flemmons,
Stefania Robba,
Elizabeth Carr and
Kelsey Cenate, while Hollins scored their lone goal with just over two minutes remaining.
"This weekend overall was a great weekend for our program as we were able to come back from the road with two wins under our belt," Head Coach
Christie Hebert said. "Overall we had a great statistical win today with many girls contributing.
"When we work together as a team we come out on top."
