GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College softball team defeated Guilford College Wednesday, 6-5.
After winning Game 1, Game 2 was suspended and later postponed due to inclement weather.
Guilford took a one-run lead in the top of the first inning before the Pride answered with two runs of their own to take a 2-1 lead.

Hayley Rumley, and
Cassie Collins each hit two-out singles before
Mandi Ballard placed a 2 RBI single into right field.
Greensboro then added to their lead in the second inning after
Madison Crisco came across the plate on a
Kali Puckett infield single.
Guilford was able to score the game's next four runs to take a 5-3 lead until Greensboro struck for two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Taylor Little and Puckett drew walks to start the inning before
Melissa Garcia laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third base. Two batters later, Rumley plated both runners with a single to left field.
Neither team was able to score over the next three innings until
Madison Crisco scored the game winning run in the eighth inning on a Garcia fielder's choice.
"We committed to all seven innings a played steady throughout the whole game," Head Coach
Teresa Fister said. "We took advantage of some key opportunities and did not waiver when challenged."
Rumley finished three-for-four at the plate, while Ballard had two hits.
Hayley Tickle picked up the complete game victory, while allowing five runs on nine hits.
