LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team took their first loss of the season Saturday against Lynchburg College, 17-1.
After trailing 11-0 at halftime, Lynchburg extended their lead after scoring the first five goals of the second half before Greensboro was able to find the back of the net.
With 7:30 remaining in the game,
Devan Macheras was able to get the Pride on the board with her second goal of the season.
The Hornets were then able to score the game's final goal one minute later to secure the win.
Kianna Anderson suffered her first loss of the season in goal despite making 12 saves on the day.
Natalie Ritchey and
Peyton Joyce led the team with two shots each, while Ritchey picked up a team-high three ground balls.
"We came out really flat today." Head coach
Christie Hebert said, "We had good moments but couldn't put them all together.
"We have a full week of practice to learn from our mistakes today and perfect them before our first conference game."
